About a week ago, myself and two of my friends, Matt and Thurston, went on a little hike to a mountain called Teufelsberg. This mountain is special for a number of reasons. The first being that the mountain is completely man-made from the rubble of non-reusable materials from World War 2. Next, there was an American listening station set up on top of this mountain so that the Americans could listen to everything that went on in the divided Germanys. Nowadays the station is completely abandoned by any sort of military activity but is now completely taken over by graffiti artists and tourists like us. The short hike to get to the top of the rubble mountain was about 2 miles or so but was very beautiful. Once we reached a giant ring of barbed wire fencing we knew we were there. After that we found the entrance and payed the small fee to get in, in which they told us just not to climb anything and don't die. The whole entire place up there was absolutely covered with graffiti, every single surface. There is also a really cool vibe of people who are just up there painting and chilling out, spending their weekends painting with their friends on a mountain. But this is also a place that I would suggest to absolutely everyone who comes to Germany.
