Hello all,
My first 3 days of school have already taken place and so far so good I would say. The trip to school is not too bad, a 10 minute walk to the nearest train station, for me that is Suedstern, and then a 5 minute subway ride to the subway stop right outside the school. The classes here at BSI (Berlin SprachenSchule Institut) are definitely much harder than the comparative classes at UNH. For instance, our teacher does not speak to us in English, ever, even outside of class she only speaks to us in German, and while helpful for the learning experience, it is definitely another added layer of difficulty. The school day for us is only 3.5 hours long, from 8:45AM to 12:15PM but we have a small 20 minute break worked in so the day doesn't feel too taxing on us. I would say though that the most challenging part of the school is that all the students from my class, except for the 5 of us from UNH, are from different countries altogether. One is from Turkey, another from Chili, a few from Japan, Argentina and a few other places. For this reason, the only language that we all have in common is German so even talking to my fellow class mates can be a challenge sometime.
I do enjoy the school though, I believe that it represents a challenge I haven't yet had in German. Until next time, thanks for reading.
PS. I am having some trouble with my phone camera at the moment so I will have to upload my pictures at a later date.
